Anxiety doesn’t care about your to-do list. It doesn’t wait for a convenient time. It shows up in the middle of the night, during your morning commute, in the school pickup line, and right before the meeting you’ve been dreading.
If you struggle with anxiety, I want you to know two things: you are not alone, and God’s Word has something to say about it. Not in a dismissive “just pray harder” kind of way—but in a real, tender, “I see you and I’m here” kind of way.
Here are seven scriptures that speak directly to the anxious heart.
“Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” Notice it says all. Not some. Not the big ones. Not the ones that seem “worthy” of His attention. All of them. The small worries and the crushing ones. He wants them all because He cares for you personally.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds.” Peace that surpasses understanding. That means peace that doesn’t make logical sense given your circumstances. That’s God’s specialty.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you.” Three promises in one verse: He’s with you. He’ll strengthen you. He’ll help you. That’s not a suggestion—it’s a guarantee.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” A very present help. Not a distant, disconnected God watching from far away. Present. Right here. Right now. In the middle of the panic attack. In the middle of the spiral. Present.
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.” Today has enough. You don’t have to solve tomorrow’s problems today. That’s tomorrow’s grace.
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.” Anxiety tells you that you’re powerless. God says He gave you power, love, and a sound mind. Anxiety is a liar. God is not.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Anxiety says the worst is coming. God says hope is coming. Which voice will you listen to today?
Here’s what I’ve learned: anxiety loves to attack when you’re away from your Bible, away from your quiet time, away from the voices that ground you. That’s why wearing scripture matters. A bracelet on your wrist or earrings that catch the light become tiny anchors throughout your day—tangible reminders that God’s truth is always accessible.
You don’t have to fight this alone. And you don’t have to be brave on your own. You just have to hold onto the One who holds onto you.
